I’ll meet you down at the Dog-House after work for a beer. It’s on the corner of Bienville and Rampart in New Orleans . First round’s on me. Not sure I’ll stick around for the 3 am floor show, though. (This photo was taken in 1940 , and the Dog-House is long gone.)
Any big plans for the weekend? Our HS band is hosting the Bands of America competition on Saturday here in Austin. Since we provide all of the volunteer muscle, we get to keep the take from parking and concessions. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year, but it’s also an all-day affair. I’ll be ready for a cold one after that, too.
Have a safe weekend, Oppo.

Weather is going to be garbage this weekend so probably do a few projects I’ve set aside for days like that. I’m going to see rancid, Pennywise, iron Reagan, and English beat (if we get down there in time) tonight though!

I wonder if a Packard driver at the Dog-House would’ve been counted as slumming it. Most likely. I note the windows are down and the cab has the window and vent window open, so one assumes typical New Orleans heat.

It’s on the corner of Bienville and Rampart in New Orleans
Three of the four corners of this intersection are now parking lots. This is your reminder that surface parking is the death of cities.

The weather is going to be cold and crappy so I might restrict my Camaro work to just starting it and letting it get up to temp. Other than that I might finally get started on my Lego Saturn V or look in to why the microphone for the bluetooth doesn’t work in my DD. It’s an aftermarket head unit so tearing it out of the dash would require some cutting.

I’m going to be busy talking myself out of throwing myself on this hand grenade.

(It’s pretty much exactly what I want, I just have been hit hard financially and can’t swing it without a loan, which is sad for such a relatively inexpensive vehicle.)

Usually, it’s a cheap way for speculators to hold lots for future development without the upkeep and property tax of a nice old building.

True, but that certainly doesn’t make it healthy for the city.

Next up is Colli nite 476 wax and winter tires. But that can wait until late October.

Well, you could be in Austin. No relief in sight either, and the next two weeks are forecast hotter than normal. Normal is 15-20 degrees cooler this time of year.

I’ll be waking up at 4 am because I have to be at the stadium at 5:15. It was supposed to be 7:15, but the organizers added a few more bands because they can make more money that way.

How do you find fluid film?
My Jetta
is rusting at the rockers and VW won’t get to doing a warranty repair until likely January. So to slow it down over winter
I’m planning on brushing off any flakes and coating the whole shebang with fluid film.
I really wanted a can of old school cosmoline and to slather it on thick with a brush but haven’t been able to find any economically available around here so am settling for spray.

Well, I just did the whole underside of the Stang today. I used 4 cans of Fluid Film and I ordered the kit with the flexible spray tube. That little tube nozzle/tube-thingy was worth the entire cost of the kit. You open a new can of FF, pull off the plastic nozzle and snap on the custom nozzle attached to a flex tube. The magic is at the application end of the flex hose. The end of the hose is not just a hose with an opening. It actually has an attachment on the end that forces the fluid out in high pressure in 4 separate directions. It’s very cool!
So I used a regular can of FF to spray the crap out of every visible inch of exposed metal. Then I used the the nozzle attachment on another can and sprayed everywhere the regular can couldn’t reach; spaces between plastic and metal, holes in the frame, hard to reach areas, etc.
I really recommend getting the kit that includes the nozzle and get yourself 3-6 cans to do an entire underside of a car.
How well it holds up? No idea - this is my first season with it on my new Mustang. But I’ll report back next spring and we’ll see how it did.

Hold up. I see white cold stuff. That has to be from last winter right? Right?! I’m not ready for cold weather - make it go away!
